The inaugural National Youth Sports Festival 2024, organized by the Assemblies of God of Ceylon, marked a historic moment for our organization. Held on 7th and 8th June 2024, this youth sports festival brought together participants from across the country. The event featured four major sports: volleyball, netball, cricket, and tug-of-war, showcasing the talent and dedication of our youth.
Under the guidance of the Executive Presbytery, particularly led by Reverend Deepal de Silva, the organizing team navigated challenges and paved the way for a successful event. Their vision and strategic planning ensured smooth coordination and effective management throughout the preparation. The support extended by the MCC Sports Cricket Ministry was instrumental in overcoming financial hurdles. Their generous assistance enabled us to address logistical needs and provide a conducive environment for all participants.
A total of 15 regions from across the country enthusiastically participated in the National Sports Meet 2024. Teams qualified through Regional competitions. This wide-ranging participation enriched the competitive spirit of the event and highlighted the talent among our youth.
The presence of esteemed guests Mr. Julien Boling and Mrs. Natasha Kodithuwakku added prestige to the event. Their participation and support were a testament to the significance of the National Sports Meet 2024 in promoting sports and community engagement on a national scale. Their insights and encouragement inspired participants and organizers alike.
To ensure fair play and unbiased outcomes, all coaches were hired through the Sports Federation. This strategic decision upheld the principles of neutrality and professionalism, contributing to the truthfulness of the competition. The dedication and expertise of these coaches played a crucial role in guiding and mentoring participants towards achieving their best performances.
